Top 5 Favorite Character Meals!

Top 5 Favorite Character Meals!

Character meals is one of my family's favorite parts of Walt Disney World! Great food, one on one interactions with an assortment of Disney characters, no lines to stand in, and some of our most cherished memories and pictures. If you haven't ever experienced a character meal, make sure to make a reservation for one on your next trip to Walt Disney World. Your kids will thank you and you will not be disappointed!

My family's ALL TIME favorite character meal would have to be "Goofy's Liberate Your Appetite Character Dinner" at The Liberty Tree Tavern inside The Magic Kingdom! Sadly, Disney decided to discontinue this character experience in January 2009. The Liberty Tree has always held a special place in my family's heart and we would make reservations here for the first night of ALL of our trips. This was the PERFECT place and character experience to begin our Walt Disney World vacation! Even after a long plane flight, my kids were still eager to get to The Magic Kingdom ASAP! Since the Liberty Tree Tavern was the only Character Dinner in the Magic Kingdom that included Mickey's friends, it was a great way for my sons and daughter to all enjoy the characters. Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale were all decked out in their traditional colonel garb and they would visit each table throughout while your family dined.
While the characters are no longer hosting the dinners at The Liberty Tree, the restaurant is still open for guests. The dinner menu consists of a family style meal of Tossed Mixed Greens, served with a special Tavern Strawberry Vinaigrette Dressing, roasted turkey breast, carved beef, and smoked pork loin, with mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, herb bread stuffing, Macaroni and Cheese, rolls and gravy. YUM YUM!

But sadly, I can not add The Liberty Tree to my Top 5 List for Character Meals...
So on to the list of my current Top 5 Character Meals!

#5
Crystal Palace in the Magic Kingdom
Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore host an American/Traditional flare buffet breakfast, lunch AND dinner. The beautiful and spacious Crystal Palace is conveniently located in the Magic Kingdom, between Main Street and Adventureland. There are windows everywhere with lovely Victorian touches throughout. This is the only character meal where Winnie the Pooh and friends is found, so if one of these characters is a favorite of yours or someone in your family, this character meal is a must!

#4
1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian Resort
1900 Park Fare restaurant in Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa offers character breakfast and dinner buffets with American-style cuisine. The Supercalifragilistic Breakfast has Mary Poppins, Alice in Wonderland, the Mad Hatter and other Wonderland friends. This is a GREAT way to meet and get pictures with some difficult to find characters. Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner has Cinderella, Prince Charming and other storybook characters. The food is good and the characters give each table attention for autographs and pictures.

#3
Princess Storybook Dinner in Norway @ Epcot
The Princess Storybook Dinner is located in the Akershus Royal Banquet Norway - World Showcase - Epcot. You can not miss this character experience if you have a young girl who loves the Disney Princesses! Even my 2 sons loved this dinner! As you dine on a cold buffet, served entrees and dessert trays, the Disney Princesses visit you at your table to take pictures and sign autographs. Disney Princesses who may appear include: Ariel (in her ballgown), Belle, Jasmine, Snow White, Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Mulan, Mary Poppins or Cinderella. There is never a guarantee of which Disney Princesses may appear, but you get a nice assortment of 4-5 princesses that visit the tables and one princess will greet your family at the door for family photos that are included with the price of your meal and will be delivered to you during your meal! How great is that!

#2
Cinderella's Royal Table in Cinderella's Castle @ Magic Kingdom
This one is at the top of this list for one reason.... LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! This is the hardest character meal to secure a reservation! Breakfast and lunch are the only meals that Cinderella attends. The Fairy Godmother hosts the dinner. You can also enter the park before it opens if your reservations are prior to the park opening. Breakfast and Lunch are Disney Princess-themed character meals. When you arrive at Cinderella's castle for your reservation, a photographer will be on hand to take pictures of your group in the lobby. The package is included with the fixed price menu and includes four 4x6 prints and one 6x8 print of your group, as well as one 6x8 print of Cinderella's Castle in a Cinderella photo holder . Your photos will be delivered to you during your meal.

#1
Chef Mickey's at The Contemporary Resort
Chef Mickey's is located at the Contemporary Resort and serves breakfast and dinner with Chef Mickey, Minnie Mouse, Chip, Dale, Chef Donald Duck, Pluto OR Chef Goofy. Characters rotate and certain characters are not guaranteed except for Mickey since it is his party, of course! The characters visit each table for pictures and autographs. Every 15 minutes or so, the party song is played and everyone, including the characters begin to swing their colorful napkins over their heads while singing, dancing and having a VERY DISNEY PARTY!! It is really a lot of fun and is my #1 can't be missed character meal!!
